Into The Village
Portraits, Poland 1997
Residency: Edinburgh City Council
This set of images resulted from a short residency to Poland during which I stayed in a village called Lanckorona.
A disparate mix of people filled my days with their stories of being there: artists visiting to paint the 19th century wooden houses, local residents hanging around the village square and the young girls from ‘difficult’ backgrounds sent to learn a trade in the state-run hotel where I was staying.
